Teaching kids Esports and Game designing with Minecraft Education
Updated: Feb 12, 2025
What is Esports?
Esports, short for electronic sports, refers to organized, competitive video gaming. It differs from traditional video gaming due to its competitive nature and often includes an engaging spectator aspect, similar to traditional sports. Like traditional sports, esports requires teamwork, communication, critical and strategic thinking, creativity, sportsmanship, and leadership.
A significant benefit of Minecraft Education is its ability to combine game-based learning with competition to support progress in sports.
One example created by my students through Minecraft Education involved learning about esports, coding, and game design within a 3D environment.

Minecraft is a great example of how a game can do more than entertain. When kids start designing their own worlds or learning how esports teams work, they’re picking up useful skills without even realizing it. The creative side is especially interesting because every student can come up with something different, rather than simply following instructions. It would be fun to see what kind of games they come up with after getting some experience with Minecraft Education. I’m always exploring different corners of gaming myself, and FFbetadl.com is another name that comes up along the way.
